Martin, the Custodian at the Animal Shelter does a super job of keeping things as clean as possible for the animals. He doesn't have any pets of his own but loves all of the animals at the Shelter and they appreciate all he does for them.

Raymond, I really like you!

Taylor is one of our youngest volunteers and loves to work in the Cat Room petting kitties. Needless to say, they love it when Taylor comes to the Shelter.

John Kennedy, a deputy for the Knox County Sheriff's Office, provides Animal Control services for the County and is a daily visiter at the Prairieland Animal Shelter. In fact, we see John there several times a day many days.

Don't miss our Doggie Jog on September 16! This is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year and is definitely our most FUN event of the year, too! Call us at 342-1275 to sign up or get more information about the Doggie Jog!

We love our volunteers! We have been so fortunate to be able to have many more people volunteer at the Shelter this year. Amy Krug, who is employed at Wal-Mart, is one of the many people who come to the Shelter every week to walk dogs.

Animal Shelter employees earned money for the animals at the Shelter June 17 and 18 by participating in the 100 Mile Yard Sale. Shelter employees solicited hundreds of donations from the public, obtained baked goods for a Bake Sale, and volunteered their time for the entire weekend. The result was that their efforts brought over $500.00 back to the Shelter for the animals. Shelter staff not only earned the money, but did a fantastic job of allocating it for desperate needs at the Shelter. They purchased many new items for the animals as well as items to help them make the Shelter a clean and safe environment for the animals to live in. Sprayer nozzles to clean kennels, trash cans on wheels, leads and collars, and a heap of animal treats were some of the items the staff purchased for the Shelter with their earnings from the Yard Sale. Thank you shelter employees!

One of our many browsers at the 100 Mile Yard Sale. Shoppers had a great time searching for good quality merchandise knowing the proceeds from the sale would directly benefit the animals. "The Animals" is what it is all about!

Some of our young shoppers at the 100 Mile Yard Sale had fun inspecting the kitchen set which was purchased by a local pre-school. The kitchen set was one of hundreds of items the public donated to the Yard Sale--with all proceeds benefiting the Shelter animals.

It is always a HAPPY day when an animal goes to their new home as this dog is!

Jeannie is one of the ladies who comes to the Shelter almost every afternoon to walk dogs for us.

Thanks to Hardees Manager Debbie Clague and Lyndale Pickrel-Baumgardner, who was the #1 salesperson for PAWS in May 2006. They did a great job of supporting our PAWS program and helping our home

Some of our volunteers are siblings. Amy and David are great volunteers and both enjoy working in the Cat Room or walking some of our Shelter dogs.

Our staff are great! Shetler staff are some of the most dedicated and caring people you would ever want to meet.
Evan is one of this summer's volunteers. Volunteers make all the difference in the lives of the animals at the Shelter. While staff take care of the basic needs of the animals and ensure they are healthy and safe, it is volunteers who have the time to play with kitties, walk dogs, and do other jobs at the Shetler which are so very important for the animals.
