All cats adopted through the Prairieland Animal Welfare Center must be either spayed or neutered before they can be adopted. Adoption fee for cats is $65.00. This fee includes having the cat either spayed or neutered and updated vaccinations. If the adopter lives in the City of Galesburg, there is an additional City tag fee. If the adopter is from Knox County, as well, there is a Knox County tag fee, too. These tags are paid for and received at the Knox County Jail and the City Clerks Office. If you have further question regarding the tags of your newly adopted pet(s), please let us know by calling (309)342-1275. All adoptions must include a promise that if the owner cannot give this pet a home in the future, the animal will be returned to the PAWC so the animal can be offered for adoption by another individual or family.
